This is easily the most well-known Snowdrop and can be seen in gardens all over Europe. The common Snowdrop, Galanthus nivalis, is ideal for naturalising in grass or under trees. Snowdrops are beautiful in combination with the yellow of Winter aconites, the lilac of spring Crocuses, or the pale blue of Misczenko squill.

Galanthus nivalis is undemanding and every couple of years a clump can be lifted and divided, creating a carpet of snowdrops in no time at all.

Galanthus nivalis is native to southern Europe.
