IPHEION - Starflower

In 2011 we planted Ipheion (common name: Starflower) in our sunny stinzenmeadow. Here it flowered beautifully, but unfortunately for only one year. After that it became overgrown with other bulbs and grasses. So, speaking from experience, it’s far better to plant Ipheion in a dry, sunny position with no or little competition from other plants. Next to a wall, on a sunny bank or in a rockery are all suitable planting places. The soil doesn’t have to be particularly fertile; we once spotted Ipheion growing in a neglected and very sandy front garden!
