||September (flowerbulb planting time)
The Allium giganteum - a tall and large-flowered ornamental onion, always attracts a lot of attention in the garden. The flowerhead measures 15 to even 20cm across. The Allium giganteum is a classic: it’s been around since the late 19th century in gardening circles.
Like all ornamental onions it doesn't naturalise readily. Allium giganteum feels most at home in a sunny perennial border and – with a yearly dose of manure, returns reliably every year. Land of origin: central Asia.
