||October (flowerbulb planting time)
Allium 'Purple sensation', commonly known as Dutch garlic, is an unusually deep-coloured ornamental onion. The fairly large flowerheads (diameter 10cm) are a deep purple, and the stems reach to about 70cm high.. Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ looks great in a meadow with other bulbs, or among perennials in a border. An especially sunny spring can persuade 'Purple sensation' to flower as early as at the end of April! Give ornamental onions a yearly dose of manure to ensure that they return every year.
Because our bulbs are cultivated from seed, the flowers can be varying tints of purple. This creates a lovely natural effect in the garden!
