A classic ornamental onion. Allium christophii has a large (15-20 cm) lilac flower head. The flower head is made up of a mass of small shiny, violet flowers, and has an open and airy appearance.

A gentleman called Christoph discovered this ornamental onion in Central Asia, where it is found growing in the wild. Allium christophii has featured in gardening circles ever since.

In our garden we combine Allium christophii with a medium high Hosta.
