This late-flowering ornamental onion has an unusual, deep red-purple colour, rarely found in nature. The bloom is semi-sephrical, measures up to 7cm across, and is suitable as a cut flower. Allium atropurpureum needs a sunny position and is stunning in combination with perennials. Make sure it doesn't get smothered by fast growing perennials.
