Anemone nemorosa 'Robinsoniana' is named after the English garden writer, William Robinson. He discovered the lilac form of the Wood anemone in the botanical gardens of Oxford in 1870.
Anemone nemorosa 'Robinsoniana', like other Wood anemones, is ideal for naturalising under deciduous trees and shrubs. The lilac Wood anemone flowers a couple of weeks later. In our garden the lilac Wood anemone grows in the perennial border alongside unfurling Hostas and Rodgersias.
The loose rhizomes of Anemone nemorosa are prone to drying out: we therefore pack them in a perforated bag with soil. Please plant them as quickly as possible. However, if neccessary they can be stored for a short while in the fridge (frost free!).
