The foliage of Arum Italicum, or Italian arum, emerges in autumn and remains evergreen during the winter months. In April/May pale green, goblet-like spathes appear. The foliage of Italian arum then dies back in summer to expose stunning spikes of orangey-red berries.

The Italian arum has veined leaves; it can take a couple of years after planting for the white veins to become apparent. Native to southern Europe, northern Africa and southwest Asia.
